"Linda May Han Oh is a planetary force and these compositions, so brilliantly crafted, are her gravitational waves." – Nextbop

Based in New York City, Linda May Han Oh is a bassist, vocalist and composer who has performed and recorded with artists such as Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas, Terri Lyne Carrington, Steve Wilson, Geri Allen and Vijay Iyer.

Born in Malaysia and raised in Boorloo (Perth) in Western Australia, she has received many awards including  a Grammy Award and the Herb Albert Award for music in 2023, a 2022 Deutscher Jazz Preis and the 2020 APRA award for Best New Jazz Work. She has been voted the Bassist of the Year by the Jazz Journalists’ Association, Hothouse Magazine and Jazztimes.

Her new collaborative composition, Ephemeral Echoes, explores the transient nature of things – from the flickers of a firefly or the spectacle of the aurora borealis/australis, to planned obsolescence. Ephemeral Echoes features percussionists (Steve Richter, Iain Robbie and Genevieve Wilkins), Fabian Almazan (piano and effects), Ben Vanderwal (drums), Linda May Han Oh (double bass and vocals) and lighting design by Lucy Birkinshaw.

Premiere: Perth Festival, March 2023. Commissioned by UKARIA and Finding Our Voice.
